Everyone wants to be cool right? But a lot of the time it’s difficult to know what’s on trend from week to week. Don’t worry though, because Revolution has got your back. We’ve put together a list of what you should be aware of this week, because there’s nothing worse than feeling out of the loop, right?
1. Facebook Profile Videos
Is your profile picture not doing you justice? Is it just too — well — static? Well don’t worry, Facebook has begun to roll out Profile VIDEO functionality. That’s right – now you can have a 7-second long looping GIF image to show off who you are. Forget profile pics – profile vids are where it’s at now.
2. Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth
Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s happiest play (just kidding, it’s 100% depressing) is such a good looking slice of cinema, it doesn’t even matter that you can’t understand a word the characters are saying. Despite this, you can still tell that Michael Fassbender’s performance is on point, as usual.
3. Ryan Adams – 1989
American alternative singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has just released a track by track cover album of Taylor Swift’s 1989. It sounds like a joke, but you’ll be shocked at the depth of emotion Adams is able to pull out of Taylor’s pop schtick. Surprisingly awesome.
4. London Literature Festival
If you want to become a true renaissance man/woman, head down to the London Literature Festival at the Southbank Centre (28th Sept – 12th Oct). There are some seriously smart people in attendance, including visionary Terry Gilliam, comedian Tim Key and Sir Tom Jones (okay, we’re not sure if he’s super smart, but he’s a pretty big deal!).
5. The Thug Kitchen Party Grub Cookbook
The thugs are back this month with another profanity-laden offering of delectable new delights for you to try making yourself. Whereas most recipe books usually see the celebrity chef attempting to make polite jokes in between boring directions, the authors of this book allow their passion for food manifest in all kinds of bad language, and we love it.
6. David Beckham – H&M Modern Essentials
If there’s one thing greater than David Beckham’s H&M Modern Essentials clothing line it’s the hilarious short film they made to promote it, starring Beckham himself alongside an irritating Kevin Hart. Check it out above.
7. Fall Out Boy – UK Tour
The pop-punkers turned pop stars begin their UK tour at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Oct 6th. These guys have been killin’ it for years, and from what we’ve heard their live show is as fresh as ever. If you prefer guitars and drums to decks and speakers, don’t miss out on this.
It’s that time of year again when it becomes acceptable to drink beer from absurdly huge Stein glasses, just because the Germans say so. Don’t question it – just keep an eye out for the many Oktoberfest events that’ll be taking place across the UK over the next couple of weeks.
9. Burberry ‘Brit Rhythm Intense’ – New Fragrance
Gents – do yourself a favour and grab a bottle of the new fragrance from Burberry. Ladies – you’re welcome.
10. American Horror Story – Hotel
The 5th season of the horror anthology TV series premiers this Wednesday on Netflix. Lady Gaga is a featured guest star in this season, so you KNOW it’s going to be scary.
There you have it – now you’ve got no excuse for the bandwagon to leave you behind. Of course, there is an easier way to be permanently cool – go on, get yourself a Revolution card. You deserve it.
