Perhaps it will be easier if everybody chooses their meal in advance and so the meal can be served much quicker, and everybody gets what they want. This means that there will be more time afterwards for the main entertainment! It also means that the food can be served as soon as you are ready for it.

The Christmas party can also be used as a good time to make speeches, presentations, or announcements. Perhaps you'll have an annual award ceremony, or a more humorous prize giving. You might need to make sure that every guest can hear, or is in the same room at the same time if you're having a buffet.
