Know What To Wear For Your Christmas Party
Christmas party outfits don't have to be too difficult to get right. There's nothing wrong with treating yourself to something nice, perhaps you'll buy new shoes, a new dress, or maybe a new shirt, but you don't need to go overboard, or feel you have to dress to impress.
The Christmas party isn't a fashion show, so you'll need to perhaps think about what you're going to wear. You might have to tone down your outfit, or make a special effort, depending on how much fashion matters to you.
You are representing your company, and so you will need to look smart and professional. Your witty slogan T shirt, and ripped jeans might be what you wear outside of work, but it probably isn't suitable Christmas party clothing.
Depending on your interests and personality, the Christmas party is perhaps not the best place to show off the real you. You might be proud of your tattoos, political or religious beliefs, but this probably isn't the best place to show them off.
It's better to be overdressed than underdressed for the Christmas party, so if the dress code is smart casual, it's better to be smart than casual. You might have some idea as what your colleagues will be wearing, or what the dress code of the venue usually is.
If you work in a very formal environment, then the Christmas party might be the one time of year when everybody dresses down a bit. If you wear a suit everyday, and have to keep your tie and jacket on, you might be glad of the opportunity to wear jeans. Alternatively, if you wear jeans and a T shirt everyday for work, you might like the chance to get dressed up, and wear something smarter for the Christmas party.
If you're not very good with clothes, or tend to stick to the same colours, you might want to get some help, so that you don't stand out at the Christmas party for all the wrong reasons. You might need to remember which colours do and don't go together.
Whatever you decide to wear to the Christmas party, you might still have to dance, or be able to climb stairs. You don't want to wear anything that stops you from doing this. You'll also need to choose something that'll be comfortable all night long. Depending on your company, you might not be able to take your jacket or tie off until later in the evening. Make sure that you'll be able to walk in your shoes too. You don't want to have to cut short your Christmas party because your feet hurt.
No matter what you actually decide to wear, the whole purpose of the Christmas party is to have a good time, so don't let your Christmas party outfit stop you from having a great night.
