What is The Purpose of a Christmas Party

The annual Christmas party serves a real purpose. It's a great opportunity for staff and management to let their hair down and have a good time.

In the current economic climate, many companies may be looking carefully at their Christmas party and questioning how necessary it is. There are, however, plenty of reasons why the Christmas party should be a top priority this year and these are as follows:

For nearly all staff, the Christmas party is something to look forward to for many months, and the highlight of the working year. Many staff will have had to make alternative summer holiday plans, or dramatically reduce their social life due to the current financial climate, and so they won't want to miss out on the Christmas party as well.

The Christmas party is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the hard work of the last year, and to celebrate the success of the staff and the achievements of the company. Your business may have had a difficult year, if so, it's all the more important that you celebrate coming through hard times with an end of year celebration.

The Christmas party is also a good exercise in team building. Perhaps you'll be talking to people and departments you don't normally have any dealings with, or only talk to on the phone or via email. You'll also get to know your colleagues better. You might have never socialised with the people you work with, perhaps due to travel or family commitments. Why not make the most of this opportunity and find out more about your colleagues.
