Don't Be A Christmas Party Scrooge
If your boss isn't sure that the budget will stretch to a Christmas party this year, or that it's a good use of company resources in the current economic climate, then perhaps you will need to be even more convincing than ever this time, that the Christmas party is a good idea.
Rather than keep pestering them about organising the Christmas party, or catching the boss at the wrong time, you'll need to employ a tactic of subtle manipulation. Instead of asking at busy times, or whilst the boss is on the way to or from a meeting, or knee deep in paperwork, why not see if you can have 5 minutes with them to discuss the Christmas party, or catch them at lunch time?
If you want to increase the chances of your boss agreeing to fund the Christmas party, then you might need to put a case together so that your boss can't say no when you ask whether you can have a Christmas party this year.
Why not find out what other departments or companies doing for their Christmas party? This will give you an insight into how other departments in your company, or companies in your industry, are celebrating Christmas. Why not suggest having a joint Christmas party with all departments this year? You'll save money, and have a great time, as well as socialising with people other than your normal colleagues.
By reminding everyone how hard you've all worked this year, you'll be able to persuade the boss that you should be rewarded with a Christmas party. Perhaps your department or company has benefitted from additional sales revenue, or cost saving measures, which means that the Christmas party is more likely now.
As well as being good for staff morale, the annual Christmas party is great for team building, and so can help to create and maintain better working relationships, and lead to more efficient working. Which boss wouldn't want to reward a more efficient and effective team with a Christmas party?
Why not offer to organise the Christmas party yourself if your boss is still not convinced? If the company won't organise it, they might still pay for it. By organising it yourself, you're sure to get the sort of party you want. It'll also give you a chance to show off your leadership skills. Better still, why not let the Revolution Christmas Party Planners take all the stress out of organising your Christmas party this year?
If that doesn't work, you could always plan the Christmas party yourselves. Just don't forget to invite the boss!
Don't leave it too late to organise your Christmas party this year. Otherwise you might not get the Revolution venue you want, or the date you want.
