The Espresso Martini was first created in 80’s London, by a world class cocktail maker named Dick Bradsell. Legend has it, a famous model came into his bar in Soho one night and asked Dick to make her a drink that “wakes me up and then f**** me up”. Shocking, we know.

Whether that story’s true or not (and we like to think it is), there’s no doubt the Espresso Martini is one of the best cocktails ever put together.

Whilst its mix of vodka and coffee might raise some eyebrows, you have it on good authority (ahem, us), that this cocktail is one you have to try!

Want to mix it up? Here’s how to create our Poppin’ Espresso Martini:


25ml Stoli vodka
25ml Kahlua (coffee flavoured liqueur)
25ml Creme De Cacao,
12.5ml Gomme
50ml chilled Espresso coffee
A spoon of chocolate popping candy to garnish


Note: You’ll need a Boston glass and Coupette glass to make our Poppin’ Espresso Martini.

First, chill the Coupette glass by adding crushed ice and soda. Next up, grab the Boston glass and fill it with ice and all of the above ingredients, except for the popping candy, pop on the lid and shake vigorously for 7 seconds. After emptying the crushed ice and soda, fine strain the cocktail into the Coupette glass and garnish with Popping Candy.
