Let’s be real, everyone loves a good Easter Egg.

No, not the round-chocolatey-eggs-of-goodness which are somehow already on sale (the turkey isn’t even cold yet, guys), we’re talking about those hidden messages in all your fave movies and TV shows.

They’re everywhere, usually pretty subtle, and when you spot one, you can’t help but feeling that you took the wrong path in life and should have become a private detective with a moustache and a fedora.

What about the ones you’ve definitely missed, though? Well, we’re here to sort you out, by rounding up the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it messages you NEED to know about.

Anchorman

Notice anything odd about the restaurant that Veronica and her female colleagues visit in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy?

Unless you speak Spanish, you probably didn’t notice that the restaurant’s name, ‘Escupimos en su Alimento’ translates to ‘We spit in your food’.

Yep, so it’s probably a good job TripAdvisor wasn’t around in the 70s.

The Simpsons

It’s all in the hands on The Simpsons.

From Homer to Bart to Mr Burns, every character on the show has just four fingers, except God that is. Given five fingers by the animators, this is one of those hidden messages that you’ll be kicking yourself for not noticing the first time around.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Now, we’re willing to bet every single cocktail shaker we own that you missed this hidden gem.*

In a scene halfway through Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, it’s possible to spot everyone’s favourite droids from a galaxy far, far away as a form of hieroglyphics on a stone pillar. Yep, that’s right, R2-D2 and C-3PO appear in Indiana Jones!

*If you already knew this one please don’t hold us to our claim. Our cocktail shakers are all we have.

Fight Club

The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club.

The second rule of Fight Club is: you do include a Starbucks cup in every scene of the film to poke fun at corporations and their growing influence over world culture. Or, you know, something equally dark like that.

Go on, watch it again and see how many venti cups you can spot.

The Departed

Ready to have your mind blown?

Well, in Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning The Departed, every single character death is foreshadowed by an X appearing moments before a death. Seriously, there are 23 deaths in this movie, and each one gets its own special X somewhere on the screen.

And if you ask us, we think it probably won the Oscar for that alone.

Fast Five

Get it? Han Seoul-Oh? Like, Han Solo?

Yep, what we’re learning here is that no matter the film or franchise, you’re never too far away from a shoehorned Star Wars reference. And in fairness, this hidden gem is pretty hard to spot, so almost makes up for the horror that was watching Fast Five.

Almost.

Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban

Right. We’re just gonna come out and say it: you can see a couple having sex in Harry Potter.

We couldn’t quite believe it ourselves when we saw it, but if you watch the film credits at the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, you can clearly see two sets of footprints looking quite suspicious in the corner of the Marauder’s Map.

Could it be some kind of weird four-shoe-wearing creature that didn’t quite make it into the film? Right? That makes much more sense than some map designer actively-trying-to-destroy-our-childhood-memories? Yeah? We’re going to go with that.
