Think a Fresher’s week with no restrictions, dancing and socialising – just like the good old days.

In case you didn’t know, we throw the BEST parties and fresher’s week is no different, Think amazing student nights, exclusive deals and everything else in between. We can’t wait to welcome you all through our doors again ready to have the time of our lives!

Trust us, your student years are the best years of your life and we want to make sure that you not only have an unreal experience but that you are safe whilst doing so. So, keep reading for our top tips on keeping safe throughout Fresher’s week and beyond plus (and very importantly) what we are doing to protect you too…

1. Use a Revs drinks topper

At Revolution your safety is our priority which is why we’ve created a drinks topper. These will keep your drink covered all night. All you have to do it ask behind the bar for one, and a member of our team will happily get you one!

2. Drink PLENTY of water

This might seem like common sense, but it is super important that you stay hydrated throughout Fresher’s week, especially if you are drinking alcohol. Which is why during Fresher’s week we will be giving out water at our doors, and when in bar you always have access to complimentary tap water – all you have to do is ask! After all, you don’t want to become ill during Fresher’s week and miss out on all the fun, do you?

3. Always eat before a night out

We’re sure your parents will have already told you this step – but it’s an important one. Never drink on an empty stomach! That’s right, ALWAYS eat before you begin drinking alcohol.

This will help prevent you from becoming ill due to alcohol AND becoming intoxicated too fast.

4. Tell a friend where you are going and who with

Always tell a friend or family member where you’re going, and who you’re going to be with and no this isn’t just so they can have a nosy. Ensuring someone knows where you are is peace of mind for yourself, knowing that you can let your hair down and have a great night. If you can why not share your location or download find my friends with someone you trust – we know you go to uni to have that FREEDOM, so if you’re not willing to share with a family member, at least make sure you do with your besties.

5. Always use a registered taxi company

NEVER get into an unmarked taxi. Always use only registered taxi companies that you know of or use Uber where your location is always tracked. Our team are always at hand to help you get a taxi also, they will know the best and cheapest (win-win) taxis for that area, all you have to do is ask.

6. Stick with friends or flatmates

This one can be hard when you are excited and meeting lots of new people but try not to split up from friends or flatmates on a night out. There is something to be said about safety in numbers and you don’t want to wind up by yourself on a night out, after all, who are you going to share cheesy chips with at the end of the night?

7. Make sure you always have charge in your phone before a night out

Ensure that you fully charge your phone before going out, this offers you safety if you ever had to get in touch with someone, or if you were in a situation where you needed to make an emergency phone call. Not to mention you don’t want your phone dying during the perfect selfie opportunity, do you? Why not try getting a battery pack that you can fit in your pocket/bag so that you never run the risk of your phone dying. We also have charging stations in our bars, and our team are always happy to charge your phone for you when needed!

8. Pace yourself

We can all get a bit carried away with the excitement and buzz of a good night out! But knowing how to pace yourself and your own limits is always better. After all, you don’t want to be spending the next morning hanging over the toilet…
